Roles and supervisors

Every crew member has a role — Crew or Supervisor. The role is a simple label for field workers; it doesn't restrict what they can do and it doesn't give anyone a login. It just helps you tell foremen and leads apart from the rest of the crew at a glance.

Setting a role

Set the role when you add or edit a member, or in the Role column of your CSV during import. On the Crew page, supervisors show a hard-hat badge and crew show a pick badge, so you can spot your leads instantly. Use the role filter at the top of the list to see only supervisors or only crew.

Supervisors on the board

Supervisors are scheduled exactly like everyone else. Drag them from the available pool onto a job, or between jobs — a supervisor can work a job as regular crew whenever you need. There's no separate foreman list and no rigid rules to fight.

Each job has a setting for whether the supervisor counts toward the ideal crew size, so a lead can either fill a slot or ride along on top of the crew count without throwing off your numbers. You'll find that toggle when you edit a job.

A note on account roles

Don't confuse the crew Supervisor role with the account roles (admin, scheduler, supervisor) used for the people who log in to CrewSheet. Crew roles describe field workers who receive texts and emails; account roles control who can sign in and what they can change.
